Amber and her family’s lives went through many shifts starting in 2020. They moved from a poverty-stricken neighborhood in Detroit to start over in South Florida.
Things were looking up when Amber’s husband was transferred to Leesburg in 2022. They were saving money, the kids were in school and Amber was in nursing school.
In February, her husband’s company cut his position, and all the savings were depleted right when he found new employment.
To get them through to his first paycheck, Amber came to United Way where she was made to feel comfortable and supported.
UWLS was able to assist her family with rent, keeping them housed.
Our Family Stability Services program is proud to be able to keep families like Amber’s on a path toward self-sufficiency and success. To help us help more community members thrive, visit uwls.org/donate
