The United Way of Lake & Sumter Counties, Community Foundation of South Lake County, Lake County Police Activities League, and Lake County Sheriff's Office have all partnered to address the increasing violence among our youth in Lake County.  According to a report published by the University of South Florida, Children at a Glance 2006, Lake County has the most teen violent deaths in counties over 200,000 residents.  Gangs and gang activity is becoming more and more apparent especially in the south end of the county.

Through this partnership and through the support of the Lake County School Board, Lake County Board of County Commissioners, and many children's agencies, we are working to resolve this concern.  The program will include education programs on gangs, drugs, and crime.  The program will also include recreation such as dance, art, and sports.
